Fiat Linea 2018 Review

The Fiat Linea is one of the most stylish sedans produced by the Italian automobile manufacturer Fiat Automobiles S.p.A. The Fiat Linea comes with best in class comfort features, latest safety features and decent exterior design. Apart from these, ride and handling is the main highlight of this handsome sedan. The Fiat Linea comes in one transmission, two engine and two fuel options with as many as seven versions.

The price of  the Fiat Linea begins from Rs 7.23 lakh and goes up to Rs 10.63 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi. The chief rivals of the Fiat Linea are the Nissan Sunny, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki SX4, Ford Fiesta, Volkswagen Vento, Honda City, Tata Manza, Toyota Etios, Renault Scala and Skoda Rapid. 

ENGINE AND SPECIFICATIONS

Under the hood, the Fiat Linea is equipped with petrol as well as diesel engines. The 1.4 litre, 1368 cc, 16 valve, T-JET FIRE petrol engine churns out a maximum power of 114 PS at 5000 rpm and 207 Nm of torque at 2200 rpm. On the other hand, the 1.3 litre, 16 valve multijet and DOHC diesel engine generates 86 PS of highest power and 203 Nm of maximum torque. Both petrol and diesel engine is mated to a five speed manual transmission gearbox.

The car features a minimum turning radius of 5.4 meters. And, the fuel tank capacity of this sedan is 45 litres. Moreover, the Fiat Linea accelerates 0 – 100 km /h in just 13.8 seconds with a top speed of 170 kmph.    

In terms of fuel efficiency, the petrol powered Fiat Linea returns an ARAI certified mileage of 15.7 kmpl whereas the diesel powered Fiat Linea delivers an ARAI certified mileage of 20.4 kmpl.

EXTERIOR

The Fiat Linea flaunts an extremely strong and robust build quality. The sedan embodies the best of Italian design. It has automatic headlights that turn off and on automatically based on outside light conditions. At the same time, the rain sensing wipers of the Fiat Linea turn on automatically when rain falls on the windscreen
and, in the same way it off when rain stops.

Other attractive features of the Fiat Linea include chrome radiator grille, chrome door handles, body coloured bumpers, electric adjustable outside rear view mirrors, ORVM turn indicators, tinted glass, front fog lights and 16-inch alloy wheels.

In terms of the size, the Fiat Linea stands as 4596 mm in length, 1730 mm in width and 1494 mm in height along with a wheelbase of 2603 mm. At the same time, the sedan delivers 185 mm of ground clearance.

The Fiat Linea is available with a choice of six attractive colours – Tuscan Wine, Magnesio Grey, Sunbeam Gold, Minimal Grey, Hip Hop Black and Pearl White. 

INTERIOR

On the inside, the Fiat Linea features a high quality interior. The well arranged dashboard and the three spoke power steering wheel with mounted audio controls and air-con look elegant. The quality of upholstery and plastics is nice. The sedan has a seating arrangement for five passengers and is endowed with sufficient head room, leg room and shoulder space.

The Fiat Linea comes loaded with several marvellous interior technology features like Cruise control, BLUE&ME which is a voice command activation technology, automatic air conditioning control, My car system which includes digital odometer, date and clock setting, real-time mileage indicator, front passenger airbag deactivation, external temperature indicator, programmable speed limit buzzer, trip activation analytics, service schedule reminder, distance to empty indicator and many more.

Apart from these, the sedan is blessed with remote keyless entry, all four power windows with ‘Auto Down’ and ‘Delay’ function, internal roof light with dimming effect, rear defogger with timer, boot lamp, front door panel with side pocket and bottle box, deep glove box, passenger side vanity mirror, CD, MP3 with 4 speaker and Radio. Besides, the sedan provides generous boot space of 500 liters.

PERFORMANCE

The Fiat Linea is a great performer. As mentioned earlier, ride and handling of this sedan is excellent. On the braking front, the front wheels of the car is fitted with  disc brakes whereas the rear wheels are supported by drum brakes. The front suspension of the sedan consists of double acting telescopic dampers while the rear suspension consists of stabilizer bar.

In terms of safety, the Fiat Linea comes equipped with a number of active and passive safety features such as dual stage front airbags, rear parking sensors, Anti Lock braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Fire Prevention System (FPS), double crank prevention system, early crash sensors, front seatbelt pre-tensioner, rear seat belts, seatbelt reminder and antitheft engine immobilizer with rolling code.

ADVANTAGES

Spacious interiors, classy exterior design and best in class handling are the main advantages of the Fiat Linea. The sedan has a decent ground clearance. In addition to these, suspension and braking mechanism of the Fiat Linea are superb. 

DRAWBACKS

The major drawback of the the Fiat Linea is its fuel economy which is not up to the mark. Besides, it has high cost of maintenance.

The Fiat Linea is a premium sedan that is equipped with high end features. The overall stability of this sedan is quite impressive. Undoubtedly, the Fiat Linea is a very comfortable car for a long drive.
