The Honda Mobilio is a stylish seven-seater MPV, produced by Honda Cars India Limited, a fully owned Indian subsidiary of the Japanese public multinational corporation  Honda Motor Company Limited. The Honda Mobilio comes in ten versions with one transmission, two engine and two fuel options.

The Honda Mobilio is based on the company's Amaze and Brio platform and on the outside, the vehicle indeed looks like the Amaze and Brio, although the MPV has a sporty looking bumper and a large chrome grille.



The prices of the Honda Mobilio begin from Rs 7.44 lakh and goes up to Rs 12.19 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi. The major competitors of the Honda Mobilio are the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy, Toyota Innova, Mahindra Quanto and Nissan Evalia.

ENGINE AND SPECIFICATIONS

Honda Mobilio has both diesel and petrol engine variants producing 1497 cc and 1498 cc in petrol and diesel respectively

Under the hood, the Honda Mobilio does have an uncompromising 119 PS petrol and 100 PS diesel of power. The petrol version of the Honda Mobilio is equipped with a 1.5 litre, 4 cylinder, 1497 cc, 16 valves, SOHC enabled, i-VTEC petrol engine which produces 119 bhp of power at 6600 rpm and 145 Nm of peak torque at 4600 rpm.

On the other hand, the diesel version of the Honda Mobilio is fitted with a 1.5 litre, 4 cylinder, 1498 cc, 16 valve DOHC enabled, i-DTEC diesel engine which generates 100 bhp of power at 3600 rpm and a maximum torque of 200 Nm at 1750 rpm. Both these engines are coupled with the company's advanced 5-speed manual transmission gearbox. Besides, the petrol version Honda Mobilio has a turning radius of 5.2 metre and the diesel version Honda Mobilio has a turning radius of 5.4 metre.

One of the main highlights of the Honda Mobilio is its impressive mileage. The diesel powered Honda Mobilio delivers an ARAI certified mileage of 24.2 kmpl, which makes the MPV the most fuel efficient engine in its class. Whereas, the petrol powered Honda Mobilio returns an ARAI certified mileage of 17.3 kmpl.

In terms of acceleration, the Honda Mobilio touches the 0 - 100 kmph mark from a standstill in 13 to 14 seconds with a top speed of 150 to 165 kmph. Moreover, the MPV has a fuel tank capacity of 42 litres.

The Honda Mobilio is a handsome looking MPV. As mentioned earlier, the MPV is based on the Amaze and Brio platform, hence it resembles with its hatchback sibling when viewed from the front. However, the Honda Mobilio comes with wide chrome grille, black finishing front bumper with air dam, projector headlights with DRLs rear spoiler and 15 inches stylish wheels. While, the rear profile of the MPV gets split tail lamps which look elegant.

Other attractive features of the Honda Mobilio include micro antenna, rear defogger and high mount stop LED lamp, electrically adjustable ORVM, rear combi lamps, lighting bolt belt line and rear wiper with washer.

In terms of the size, the Honda Mobilio dimension stands as 4386 mm in length, 1683 mm in width and 1603 mm in height along with 2,652 mm of wheelbase and 189 mm of ground clearance. The Honda Mobilio is available with a choice of seven glittering colours- Carnelian Red Pearl, Brilliant Gold Metallic, Alabaster Silver Metallic, Urban Titanium Metallic, Taffeta White, Crystal Black Pearl and Majestic Metallic Blue.

The interiors of the Honda Mobilio are crafted tastefully and offers spacious cabin. The MPV comes loaded with plenty of features such as three spoke power steering, keyless entry, power windows, efficient air conditioning with rear AC vents, accessory power sockets, 2-DIN integrated audio system with MP3, AM/FM, USB and Aux-in connectivity, vanity mirror, glove box and cup holders.

The Honda Mobilio can comfortably accommodate seven passengers. The seats of the car are slide and recline and, at the same time, it offers generous amounts of headroom, knee room, legroom and also ample shoulder space. Furthermore, the Honda Mobilio has a decent boot space of 223 litre which can be further increased up to 521 litre after folding the third row seat.

PERFORMANCE

The USP of Mobilio is is huge interior space and it competes with Ertiga in this segment

The Honda Mobilio is a great performer. The handling of the car is fairly good, at the same time ride quality is superb. The braking system of the MPV is formed by front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. Besides, the Honda Mobilio is fitted with double wishbone front suspension and H-shaped torsion beam rear suspension.

On the safety front, the Honda Mobilio is integrated with essential safety features like ABS (Anti-lock braking system) with EBD (Electronic brake-force distribution), front dual SRS airbags, auto door lock with speed, three point ELR seat belts for all passengers, front seatbelt pre-tensioner with load limiter, driver seat belt reminder, dual horn, child safety rear doors lock, central locking system, front fog lamps and engine immobilizer.

ADVANTAGES

The Honda Mobilio has ample interior space. Performance of petrol engine is nice with good acceleration and pick up. In the same way, diesel engine offers an impressive mileage.

On the plus side, the Honda Mobilio is also available in a sporty RS variant, which gets a handful of additional features such as projector headlamps with LED lamps, sporty chrome grille, roof mounted spoilers, chrome exterior door handles, tailgate spoiler, stylish alloy wheel, side sill garnish and retractable wing mirrors with turn indicators.

DRAWBACKS

The base variant of the Honda Mobilio has neither music system nor rear AC vents that is a big disadvantage. Interior plastic quality is not up to mark. NVH level of the car needs an improvement. Moreover, the Honda Mobilio lacks several important features like parking sensors, climate control system, auto lock, Bluetooth connectivity and so on.           

VERDICT

The Honda Mobilio is an excellent seven-seater MPV which comes equipped with spacious interior and efficient engines. The MPV provides comfortable ride. In addition, it also offers an impressive mileage. No doubt, the Honda Mobilio is a decent car, especially in long travel, for a large Indian family.
