Mahindra Nuvosport 7 seater SUV Review

The Mahindra NuvoSport is a stylish SUV produced by the Indian multinational automobile manufacturing corporation Mahindra & Mahindra Limited. As a matter of fact, the Mahindra NuvoSport is a facelifted version of the Mahindra Quanto, which could not attract the Indian customers.Its is an SUV with a comfortable 7 seating passenger capacity.

Mahindra NuvoSport is a stylish 7 seater SUV

This sub 4 metre car has been built on the new Scorpio platform and comes in six versions with two transmission, one engine and one fuel options. The company has manufactured this stylish seven seater SUV especially for youngsters.

The price of the Mahindra NuvoSport starts from Rs 7.43 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.88 lakh. All prices are ex-Showroom, New Delhi. The Mahindra NuvoSport competes against the Nissan Terrano, Hyundai Creta, Ford EcoSport, Maruti S Cross and Nissan Duster, although the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Brezza is the arch rival of the Mahindra NuvoSport. 

ENGINE AND SPECIFICATIONS

The Mahindra NuvoSport is powered by 1.5 litre, 1493 cc, three cylinder, mHAWK100 diesel engine with 2-Stage Turbocharger. This diesel engine is capable of generating 100 bhp of maximum power @ 3750 rpm along with a peak torque of 240 Nm @ 1600 – 2800 rpm. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox and, at the same time, it is available with a five-speed automatic transmission gearbox also. Moreover, the car features a turning radius of 5.5 metre.

In terms of acceleration, the Mahindra NuvoSport reaches the 0 – 100 kmph mark in just 13.9 seconds with a top speed of 156 kmph. As far as mileage is concerned, the Mahindra NuvoSport delivers a fuel economy of 13.8 kmpl in cities and 17.21 kmpl on the expressways. Besides, fuel tank capacity of this compact SUV is 60 litre.

EXTERIOR

On the exterior front, the Mahindra Nuvosport looks aggressive principally because of its bold hexagonal grille, angular headlamps and eyebrow like LED daytime running lamps. The chrome surround fog lamps, larger air dams, sporty bonnet and silver skid plate provide it a decent look. In addition, the side profile of the car has roof spoiler and black plastic body cladding.   

Other features of the Mahindra Nuvosport include body coloured bumpers, bonnet scoop, body coloured door handle, body coloured ORVMs, side turn indicator accents, tailgate mounted spare wheel, side body cladding, side footsteps, smoke effect tail lamps, rear footsteps, wheel arch, spare wheel cover with Mahindra branding and 16-inch alloy wheels.

The dimension of the Mahindra Nuvosport measures 3985 mm in length, 1850 mm in width and 1870 mm in height. At the same time, the compact SUV has 2760 mm of wheelbase and 180 mm of ground clearance.

Moreover, the Mahindra Nuvosport comes in six sophisticated colours – Molten Red, Regal Blue, Rust Orange, Mist Silver, Diamond White and Fiery Black.

INTERIOR

The Mahindra Nuvosport has premium dual tone black and grey interior theme and plush faux leather upholstery. The power steering with tilt adjustment, steering mounted cruise controls and audio system of the car is nice.

Other attractive features of the Mahindra Nuvosport include chrome accented instrument cluster, keyless entry, power windows, air conditioner, sporty aluminum pedals, chrome accented AC vents and knobs, sunvisor with ticket holder, puddle lamps on all doors, centre console with cup holder, map pockets, sunglass holder, 6.2-inch touchscreen system, audio system with navigation, CD player, Radio, Bluetooth, USB and Aux-In connectivity.

The compact SUV has a seating capacity of seven passengers. Furthermore, the Mahindra Nuvosport comes with 412 litres of  boot space which is further expandable up to 850 litres.

PERFORMANCE

The performance of the Mahindra NuvoSport is decent. Ride and handling of the car is pleasing. On the braking front, the compact SUV is fitted with the disc brakes at the front and the drum brakes at the rear. In addition, suspension of the Mahindra NuvoSport is very well equipped by integrating independent double wishbone and coil spring with anti roll bar to its front axle while its rear axle has multilink with coil spring.

In terms of safety, the Mahindra NuvoSport comes equipped with airbags for the driver and co-driver, front fog lamps, remote central locking, child lock on middle and rear door, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-Force distribution (EBD), parking sensors, seat belt with height adjuster, collapsible steering column, anti-theft alarm and engine immobilizer. 

ADVANTAGES

The main advantage of the Mahindra NuvoSport is its mHawk engine with the advanced Micro Hybrid Technology that enables higher fuel efficiency and lower emissions. In addition to this, the compact SUV has sporty and aggressive looks.  

DRAWBACKS

The Mahindra NuvoSport has limited number of features. Besides, the compact SUV does not have petrol engine.

VERDICT

The Mahindra NuvoSport is a seven seater car and has decent ride quality and powerful engine. The pricing of this compact SUV is competitive. No doubt, the Mahindra NuvoSport  is the best option for those who want to buy a comfortable SUV with stylish looks.
