Mahindra launches XUV500 with automatic transmission, price starts at Rs 15.36 lakh

Home-grown carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra has launched an automatic version of its premium sports utility vehicle XUV500 at a starting price of Rs 15.36 lakh. The price is ex-showroom, Navi Mumbai.

The Mahindra XUV500 comes with a brand new 6-speed automatic gearbox, which is produced by Japanese component manufacturer Aisin Seiki. In fact, the new gearbox is a very conventional unit which has a torque convertor along with six forward gears and one reverse gear. Apart this, it also comes with a manual transmission mode which can be put in operation by slitting the gear lever to the left of the Drive mode.

At the same time, the gearbox comes with several in-built features such as hill start assist and a crawl function. The crawl function feature holds the car at 10 kmph without pressing the accelerator. Needless to say, this is an excellent feature in a crowded traffic. Its other features include fully automatic temperature control with dual HVAC, six airbags, reverse parking camera, Electronic Stability Program and so on.

In terms of engine, the vehicle comes with the 2.2-litre mHawk engine which produces 142 PS of power at 3,750 rpm together with 330 Nm of peak torque at 1600-2800 rpm. The dimensions of the Mahindra XUV500 are 1890 X 4585 X 1785 mm while its Wheelbase is of 2700 mm. Besides, the vehicle has a fuel tank capacity
of 70 litres.
