Tata Motors launched the Nexon in September 2017 in the booming SUV market in India. It is currently giving a tough competition to the successful Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

Now the home grown automaker has decided to develop the Nexon AMT variant in the production model and hence, the company is going to make AMT variants even more stylish.

Earlier, the Tata Nexon was showcased for the first time at the 2014 Auto Expo, where the design of Tata Nexon attracted the attention of the Indian buyers. It was again showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and it was reported that this product of the company is currently on production.

Later, this compact SUV was launched in September 2017, and the company is ready to launch Auto Manual Transmission (AMT) edition of the Nexon. In this scenario, what can be expected from this vehicle  ? It is very important to know. You might be surprised to know that the waiting period of Tata Nexon is currently for two months.

6-Speed AMT Gear Box

The most important change to the AMT version of the Tata Nexon is the gearbox. Tata Motors is developing a segment - first 6- speed AMT gearbox. This is the same 6 - speed manual gearbox which does its duties on the manual variant of the Nexon.

Tata Motors and Magnetti Marelli have collaborated to develop the AMT gearbox for all Tata vehicles. We expect the 6- speed AMT gearbox on the Nexon will be strong. Unlike a 5 - speed gearbox, the 6 - speed transmission will help the Nexon offer better ride and handling while running on top speeds.

The Nexon AMT edition will be available in the XZ + variant and will be known as XZA in the compact SUV. Even the Tata Tiago AMT is offered on the top trim with the XZA badge, so we expect the company to follow it with the Nexon as well.

Availability in Top Variant

Since the Nexon AMT will be available in the top trim level, the compact SUV will come with loaded features. It includes - 'X-factor' accents on the rear fascia, dual-tone exterior colour, fog lamps, rear parking sensors, shark fin antenna, body coloured door handles, roof rails and dual- tone 16- inch alloy wheels.

Price of  Tata Nexon AMT XZA Version

With an introductory and aggressive pricing of Rs 5.85 lakh for the petrol model and Rs 6.85 lakh for the diesel model of the manual variant of the Nexon, Tata Motors has undercut some of its competitors.

We can expect that the price of the Tata Nexon AMT XZA trim will be in the range of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 9 lakh for the petrol model and Rs 9.5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh for the diesel model.

On Engine of Tata Nexon AMT

At present, the petrol and diesel engines on the manual variant of the Tata Nexon will continue to power the AMT model too. The Tata Nexon is powered by a 1.2- litre petrol engine, which produces 108.5 bhp of power and 170 Nm of peak torque, whereas the 1.5- litre diesel engine generates 108.5 bhp of power and 260 Nm of peak torque.

If Tata Motors offers the Nexon AMT in the petrol model, which the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza misses out. Then, the company will be able to capitalize the absence of petrol Maruti Brezza with the AMT gearbox option.
