Becoming one of the country’s most favored class of vehicles, no matter, slowly the popularity of SUVs has been increasing exponentially over the past few years because of the addition of the new compact entry-level or the compact SUV segment. The number of units sold by all the SUVs in the Indian car market for the month of June 2015 have been revealed now. And, once again, Mahindra’s Bolero did take the top spot selling 6093 units. Nevertheless, its sales have dipped because the vehicle was managing 7000 odd units consecutively for the past few months.
At the same time, the number 2 spot is taken by the very popular Mahindra Scorpio which after the facelift continues to appeal to a large audience, clocking 3666 units. The Ford EcoSport took third position, managing 3664 units last month, getting very close to the Scorpio. While, Mahindra XUV500 came next selling.
Next on the list is the king of the premium SUV segment, the Toyota Fortuner which selling was 1390 units in the month of June. The Nissan Terrano sold 1021 units and was closely followed by the Tata Safari Storme at 936 units respectively.
Overall, it can be said that Mahindra as usual dominated the list once again, However, the battle in the segment will only be getting tougher with passing time as the new Hyandai Creta is ready to upset all its rivals when it’s launched in India on 21 July 2015.
