Mahindra pins hope with updated model of ‘KUV100 NXT’


Indian automobile manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd is ready to launch an updated model of its sub- compact SUV – KUV100 NXT, although the company has not yet officially ratified the launch details. This sub- compact SUV is expected to launch in the Indian market quite soon.  

It is noteworthy that Mahindra’s entry level model compact SUV KUV 100 was launched in January 2016 in the Indian SUV market. Nonetheless, the KUV100 failed to impress Indian buyers because of its boxing design. Now, Mahindra has great expectations with the updated KUV100 NXT.   

KUV 100  in new look

The updated KUV100 has been named KUV100 NXT. The new look of KUV100 or the KUV100 NXT gets a modified front and rear bumper, which looks different from the KUV100.    

Mahindra has increased the length of the KUV100 NXT to 3,700 mm, which is 25 mm larger than the previous 3,675 mm. The KUV100 NXT comes with a new front grille along with faux skid plate on the front and the rear.      

The headlights and taillights groups of the car have been changed and the rear lens has been clarified. In addition, sheet metal has been changed to the doors and the tailgate, which is now sharper and more aggressive.   

Apart from this, the Mahindra KUV100 NXT gets minor changes with two interior shades under the offer. The lower version gets grey interiors, whereas the top- end model comes with an all – black layout.

Mahindra has updated the KUV100 NXT with a new 7.0 – inch touchscreen infotainment system. It includes GPS navigation with maps from MapmyIndia. 

In addition, the Mahindra KUV100 NXT comes with power folding ORVM, remote lock / unlock for the tailgate, a new multi – info display, mood lighting, rear parking sensors, driver’s seat height adjust, cooled glove box, steering- mounted controls, drive modes and fuel economy.

Other features of the Mahindra KUV100 NXT include tailgate spoiler and integrated roof rails. While, the top- end models come equipped with 15- inch diamond cut alloy wheels.

Engine Modifications and Safety

As far as engine of the Mahindra KUV100 NXT is concerned, it will have the same engines – 82 bhp, 1.2- litre mFalcon G80 petrol engine and 72 bhp, 1.2- liter mFalcon D75 diesel engine. Both engines have been equipped with the 5 – speed manual gearbox. However, the engines have been tuned to deliver better fuel economy figures.

In terms of safety, the new Mahindra KUV100 NXT will come equipped with dual front airbags, ninth- generation ABS and EBD and corner braking control.

Although, Mahindra has not disclosed the details of launch of the KUV100 NXT in India, its spy pictures seen on the dealership, it is expected that it will be soon launched.     

The Mahindra KUV100 NXT is sharp and with the launch, it will give a tough competition to the Maruti Ignis, Hyundai i20 Active, Honda WR-V and Etios Cross. However, the price of this car will also determine whether it is successful in the Indian market or not?
