Tata Motors is going to launch an advanced version of its popular hatchback car Tiago. The company can bring its two top variants – XT and XZ with AMT technology. According to some media reports, the car will be launched in March 2017.
The other features of the 1.2-liter petrol engine variant will be the same as the previous Tiago. It generates a maximum power of 84 bhp and 112 Nm of peak torque. AMT will be given in both variants – petrol and diesel.
The AMT – equipped Tiago will compete directly with the Hyundai Grand i10 AT and the Maruti Celerio AMT. Tata Motors was giving this technology only in the sedan Zest so far, which will be given in the Tiago also.
It is worth-mentioning that after the launch in April 2016, the company has sold 5,399 units of the Tiago in January 2017. A total of 46,139 units have been sold since the launch of Tiago. In addition to the Tiago AMT, Tata Motors is, too, planning to launch the Tigor, which will be the new impact design car of the company after the Tiago and the Hexa.
In our review about this car we had informed that not having an AMT version was a drawback of Tata Tiago and after introduction of its AMT enabled version Tiago can add more younger generation buyers who are looking for hatchback with a nice fit and finish, build quality and interior space as well as ease of driving in the heavy traffic.
