Tata Motors has officially unveiled its latest hatchback Zica in Goa. The company will launch the Zica in January 2016 and is likely to be priced around Rs 4 lakh. The Zica will take on the likes of other entry hatchbacks such as Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Hyundai i10, Renault Kwid and the Chevrolet Beat.
The dimensions of the Zica hatchback are 3,746 X 1,647 X 1,535 mm along with a ground clearance of 170 mm when equipped with 14-inch wheels and a wheelbase of 2,400 mm. In addition, the hatchback has a turning circle of 4.9 metres.
The Tata Zica will be offered in petrol as well as a diesel engine option. The Tata Zica petrol comes with an all-new 1.2-litre three-cylinder DOHC aluminum motor that is expected to pump 85 PS and 110 Nm of torque. The Zica petrol weighs 1,012 kg.
Whereas, the diesel engine comes with an all-new 1.0-litre three cylinder DOHC unit made of aluminium with a cast iron block which generates 70 PS and 140 Nm of torque. The weight of the Zica diesel is 1,080 kg. The diesel is expected to return a healthy mileage of around 25 kmpl. Here, it is worth-mentioning that both these engines will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
In terms of safety, the Tata Zica comes with driver and front passenger airbags, ABS and EBD together with corner stability control, an engine immobiliser and speed-sensing auto door locks.
Moreover, the vehicle will come with Tata’s ConnectNext infotainment system with eight speakers, which also includes steering-mounted controls and Bluetooth connectivity, which could be paired with phones as well as for audio. And, at the same time, it also features smartphone-based navigation.
