Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) in association with Eco Fuel – Indian Partners of Lovato, Italy – has launched a new two- wheeler with CNG kits in Mumbai. The company has launched this scooter to reduce the running cost and affordable rides.
This two- wheeler comes with a CNG kit in which two cylinders have been fitted, and the weight of one cylinder is 1.2 kg. It can run up to 120 – 130 km in 1 kg CNG at an approximate cost of Rs 0.60 per kilo meter.
The two- wheeler CNG kit is manufactured by ITUK and Lovato and these kits have been approved by ARAI and ICAT. Lovato has got approval of 18 scooters from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEMs) in the market.
Top scooters including Honda Activa 125, TVS Jupiter, Hero Duet, TVS Wego, Suzuki Access, Mahindra Gusto, Honda Dio and Yamaha Ray and the rest of the models are running on CNG fuel in the current state and using retro fitted CNG kits.
In a statement, Petroleum Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, said, “The launch of CNG fueled two- wheelers will give an opportunity to more than thirty six lakhs two- wheelers running in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) to opt for this eco- friendly fuel. In the last few years CNG powered vehicles have grown in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) at a CAGR of over 70 percent given the fuel economics and eco- friendly nature of CNG.”
