First launched in the year 2002 Mitsubishi Pajero had picked up popularity so fast that it ended up becoming the favourite SUV of the nation. Its muscular design, bold stance and stunning looks made every one go crazy over it. Now in the year 2012, the Pajero has returned back with a makeover. A new enhanced design and a more powerful engine has been given to this SUV in the makeover process. This tough SUV competes with the likes of Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and Hyundai Santa Fe. Mitsubishi seems to be all set to burn the roads and give a tough competition to the current SUVs in the Indian market. Engine and technical specifications

The all new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has got a 2.5 litres DOHC common rail DI-D 4D56, 16 valve, intercooled turbocharged, 2477 cc diesel engine. This engine produces 175 Bhp maximum power at 4000 rpm and 400 Nm top torque at 2000-2500 rpm. The power and torque of this engine is much better with its closest competitor Toyota Fortuner which produces 168 Bhp maximum power at 4000 rpm and top torque of 343 Nm. The Pajero Sport has got a four wheel drive system installed in it with a five speed manual transmission gearbox. The fuel tank capacity of this SUV is 75 litres. The size of the 112 S tubeless tyres is 265/70 R15. The brakes are hydraulic operating ventilated drum in disc brakes type. There is a double wishbone suspension with coil springs at the front and a 3 link coil spring suspension at the rear with stabiliser bars. The minimum turning radius of the Pajero Sport is just fantastic with just 5.6 metres. The ground clearance of this SUV is 215 mm and the wheelbase measures 2800 mm. The measurements of Pajero Sport are 4695 mm length, 1840 mm height and 1815 mm width.

Exterior designing

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is one beautiful looking SUV whose road presence cannot be ignored. Its mighty muscular looks could make just about anyone fall in love with it! The designing is very sturdy and this machine looks very robust. The projector headlamp cluster is clear and its design looks aptly stylish. The front chrome grille has got slanting bars and the Mitsubishi logo shines through. The fog lamps below the headlamps too have a beautiful design. The front skid plate is silver and the chrome plated power door mirrors give the SUV an elegant look. The stop lamp, intermittent wiper-cum-washer, chrome plated number plate, black coloured roof rails, metallic door handles and bold sidesteps all add to the awesome look of the car. This SUV is available in some very attractive shades. They are blaze, fiery red, Himalayan white, storm grey, navy, carbon black, iceberg silver, pure black, earth brown, rugged red and graphite. Interiors

Just like the exteriors the interiors of the Pajero Sport are impressive too. The front part of the cabin is very spacious and has got many latest features. There is a multi-mode infotainment display screen in the centre that displays temperature, date, and time and music system information. The air conditioning has got a smart climate control feature that works efficiently. The A.C vents have been evenly placed throughout the cabin to spread cooling. The high quality leather seats give a plush feel to the cabin. The sporty beige colour of the cabin further adds to the look of the interiors. There is a lot of storage space in the cabin. Front door pockets with bottle holder, front cup holder, accessory socket in the floor console box, removable cup tray ashtray, room lamp with map lamp and sunglass pocket are all knick knack storage spaces. There is a double DIN touch screen music system with 6 speakers and 2 tweeters installed in the Pajero Sport.

Performance

The safety features of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport are ABS, EBD, dual front SRS airbags for both driver and the co-passenger, three point ELR seat belts and much more. The suspensions give a great traction and stability to the car. In all kinds of favourable and unfavourable terrain the mighty Pajero Sport treads along undeterred. The steel beams give unmatched strength to the body of the car. The fuel efficiency given out by the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is 11 kmpl which is equivalent to its biggest competitor Toyota Fortuner. The Variable Geometry Turbo is responsible for giving an enhanced mileage. The front radiator does the air cooling work fabulously. This time around the engine has been redesigned to give out minimum exhaust emissions too. The Pajero Sport goes from 0 to 100 kmph in about 15.5 seconds.
