Renault India has launched its popular hatchback car the Kwid with 1.0-litre engine.People have been waiting for this suv look alike small powerful car version since the last time it was announced.The AMT version of Renault Kwid is also said to be ready for launch by the end of this year.
The car has FWD drivetrain and one of the major highlights of the Renault Kwid 1.0L is its attractive exterior styling. On the plus side, the car is blessed with a seven inch touchscreen MediaNAV system with Bluetooth, remote keyless entry with central locking and digital instrument cluster.
The price of new Renault Kwid 1.0L ranges from Rs. 3.82 lakh to Rs 3.95 lakh. All price are ex showroom, Delhi. The chief rivals of the Renault Kwid 1.0L are the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Hyundai i10, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Tata Tiago and Hyundai Eon.
ENGINE AND SPECIFICATIONS
As the name indicates, the Renault Kwid 1.0L is powered by a 999 cc or 1.0L engine. This 1.0-litre, three cylinder, all aluminum DOHC petrol engine produces 68 PS of power at 5500 RPM and a peak torque of 91 Nm at 4250 RPM. The engine is mated to five speed manual transmission gearbox. In terms of acceleration, the Renault Kwid 1.0L achieves the 0 – 100 kmph barrier in about 16.8 seconds with a top speed of 155 kmph.
As far as mileage is concerned, the Renault Kwid 1.0L returns an ARAI certified mileage of 23.01 kmpl. The car comes with a fuel tank capacity of 28 litres. Besides, the Renault Kwid 1.0L features a minimum turning radius of 4.90 metre.
On the exterior front, the Renault Kwid 1.0L looks almost similar to the Kwid 0.8, although it gets several styling features like dual tone gloss grey OVRMs and black and white designer graphics on the doors. Other features of the car include side indicator on, clear-lens headlights, fog lights, side decals, wheel arch cladding, body coloured bumpers, full size wheel covers and integrated roof spoiler.
In terms of dimension, the Renault Kwid 1.0L measures 3679 mm in length, 1579 mm in width and 1478 mm in height. At the same time, the car has a wheelbase of 2422 mm and a ground clearance 180 mm. And, the kerb weight of the vehicle is 660 kgs.
The Renault Kwid 1.0L comes with a choice of five sophisticated colour – Fiery Red, Planet Grey, Ice Cool White, Outback Bronze and Moonlight Silver.
The Renault Kwid 1.0L has spacious interiors. The car comes equipped with chrome accentuated digital instrument cluster and the dual tone dashboard. Cabin of the Renault Kwid 1.0L is roomy and the seat upholstery comes in champion red colour.
Other features of the Renault Kwid 1.0L include front power windows, electric power steering, dual glove boxes, manual AC, 12V power socket, seven inch touchscreen MediaNAV system, satellite navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, USB and AUX-in.
The Renault Kwid 1.0L has a seating arrangement for five passengers. Seats of the hatchback are comfortable and offers good head room and shoulder room and class leading leg and knee room. Apart from these, the Renault Kwid 1.0L provides generous boot capacity of 300 litres which can be further increased up to 1115 litres by folding rear seats.
The Renault Kwid 1.0L is a good performer. The hatchback comes with best in class ride quality and pleasing handling. On the braking front, the car is fitted with disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. Moreover, front suspension of the car consists of McPherson strut with lower transverse link while the rear suspension consists of twist beam suspension with coil spring and, indeed both suspensions provide a very comfortable ride.

The Renault Kwid 1.0L is a good hatchback car in terms of exterior styling and power. Cabin of the car is roomy and the ride quality is also excellent.
