Suzuki Swift Review

Maruti Suzuki Swift came into the markets with a bang in 2005 giving a big competition to other leading hatchback manufacturers. With unconventional looks, design and features Swift has been dominating the city roads for quite some time now. Many companies tried borrowing its looks but failed to create the revolution it did. Maruti Suzuki Swift has emerged out as a true winner among other hatchback cars available in the market. This year again Swift has got a facelift to make it look peppier and swifter. The new facelift has again done it what its looks first did during its launch. The new looks of the Swift are being appreciated quite a lot and people are standing in the long awaiting periods because of several bookings done by many other people. So let’s go ahead and check out the complete review of the Maruti Suzuki Swift.

Engine and technical specifications

The engines available in Swift are 1.2 litres petrol and 1.3 litres diesel. Both of them are from the K series of Maruti Suzuki’s engines. The front suspension is Mac Pherson Strut with Coil spring and the rear one is the Torsion beam with spring coil. The Swift has got front ventilated disk brakes and rear drum brakes. The ground clearance of this hatchback comes to 170 mm and the wheelbase has been made 40 mm longer than before. Exterior designing

The wide colour choices available for the prospective buyers of the Maruti Suzuki Swift are: Solid Bright Red, Metallic Garnet Orange, Metallic Midnight Black, Metallic Azure Grey, Metallic Iridium Gold, Metallic Silky Silver, Pearl Metallic Arctic White and Metallic Ozone Blue. With European styling and excellent features Swift stands out among other hatchbacks. The bumpers, the turn indicators integrated outside rear view mirrors and the door handles are body coloured. The LED tail lights have been given a more beautiful design and ditto for the tail gate. The tail gate has been made smaller. The look from the front has also been made sportier than before. The rear window wiper and demister are some of the loveliest add-ons of the car. The sporty roof antenna, fenders, rear bumper, fog lamps, back door, front headlights, ORVMs all have been given a peppier look.

The car comfortably accommodates 5 adults. The air conditioner installed in the car comes with climate control feature. The interiors are beautiful and stylised providing good space for the people sitting in the car. Interestingly it has good leg room and the seats are elevated and extremely comfortable for long journeys too. The tailgate opener is electro-magnetic type. With the new design of the tailgate the boot space still remains small. The cabin is done up in black colour and the dashboard and centre console styling has been made more elegant and beautiful. The multi information LCD displays trip, time, temperature, fuel efficiency etc. The A.C vent knobs, door handles all have got the chrome touch now.

The mileage given out by the diesel variant of the Swift is 22.9 kmpl in the city and 23.8 kmpl on highways as claimed by the company which is superb! The petrol variant on the other hand offers 14.4 kmpl in the city and 18.6 kmpl on the highways which is again good. The petrol engine takes 12.6 seconds to cross 100 kmph mark and the diesel engine takes 14.8 seconds for the same. The central door locking facility is given in the car. The safety features of the car include the seat height adjustment for the driver, Anti-Lock Braking System with brake assist, Electronic Brake force distribution and Intelligent Computerised Anti-Theft System. Seatbelt pre-tensioners and dual SRS front airbags have been deployed too in the car. The body has been made more robust for the safety of the passengers and driver in an accidental case.

  • Fairly good space
  • Beautiful designing
  • Great fuel economy
  • Value for money car

  • Less boot space
